What to Bring for Your Yala Safari
Whether you're joining a half-day, 7-hour or full-day safari, here’s what we recommend you pack for a smooth and respectful experience in Yala National Park.
Clothing & Sun Protection
- Neutral-coloured clothing (avoid bright or neon colours)
- Light long sleeves or breathable T-shirts
- Hat, sunglasses, scarf or buff (for dust)
- High SPF sunscreen and insect repellent
Personal Items
- Reusable water bottle (1–2L recommended)
- Light snacks in sealed containers (no feeding animals)
- Raincoat or light jacket (especially during wet season)
- Hand sanitiser and tissues

What time do safaris start and finish?
Gate opening is typically around 6:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Your report/pickup time is set earlier to manage tickets and queues. Exact times are confirmed after booking and can shift during holidays or special conditions.
Do you offer hotel pickup and drop‑off?
Yes — we can arrange pickups and drop‑offs across Sri Lanka. Common pickup areas include Ella, Haputale, Bandarawela, Nuwara Eliya, Tissamaharama, Kataragama, Kirinda/Yala, Hambantota, Udawalawe, Tangalle, Dickwella/Hiriketiya, Matara, Mirissa, Weligama, Ahangama, Midigama, Koggala, Unawatuna, Galle, Hikkaduwa, Bentota, Kalutara, Negombo, Colombo (Fort, Cinnamon Gardens, Kollupitiya), Kandy and more. If your location isn’t listed, we can still help — island‑wide transfers are available on request.
What’s included in my safari?
A purpose‑built safari jeep, a professional driver/guide and coordination at the park gate. Some products include park tickets or meals; refer to the specific tour page for “Inclusions” and “Exclusions”.
Is wildlife guaranteed?
No. Wildlife encounters vary naturally day to day. Our guides use tracks, calls and habitat knowledge to maximise your chances while prioritising animal welfare.
Can I fly a drone or step out of the vehicle?
Drones are not permitted inside the park. Passengers must remain inside the vehicle unless your guide instructs otherwise at designated areas.
What should I wear and bring?
Neutral clothing, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent and 1–2L water per person. Bring your passport/ID and payment method for tickets. See the “What to Bring” section above for a concise list.
